Cookie policy

Draft — not yet approved

This cookie policy was drafted for the practice and has not been reviewed by a solicitor or a data-protection adviser. It is published so the practice can review it, and it should not be relied on as it stands.

Irish Medical Council guidance on advertising also applies to how services and prices are presented on this site, and needs the same review.

The short version

Patients get no cookies from this site, including when they book an appointment. The one cookie it sets is for practice staff, while they are signed in to see bookings. There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party script of any kind on this website.

To pay for a video call you go to Revolut’s payment page, which is Revolut’s own website, not part of this one. It sets its own cookies, under Revolut’s cookie policy, and you come back here when you have paid. An appointment at the practice is paid there, and never leaves this website. A video appointment is held on Google Meet, Google’s own website, under Google’s cookie policy, in the same way.

The cookie

NamePurposeLasts
booking_adminKeeps practice staff signed in to the page where they see bookings. Patients never receive it.Until the browser closes, or 2 hours unused

It is set only after a member of staff signs in, is marked httpOnly so no script can read it, secure so it never travels over an unencrypted connection, and sameSite=strict so another website cannot make a browser send it.

What the consent dialog asks

The dialog that greets you on your first visit covers two categories. Neither puts anything on a patient’s device today.

  • Strictly necessary. The staff cookie above, and nothing for patients. Under the ePrivacy Regulations a cookie that is strictly necessary to provide a service somebody asked for does not need consent — signing in is that service — so it is shown as always on rather than offered as a choice that is not really one.
  • Analytics. Not in use. The practice measures nothing and sets nothing for it. The category exists so that your answer is already on record if that ever changes: anything added later has to ask this setting first, and gets a no until you say otherwise.

Choosing “Allow all” today therefore permits something that does not yet happen. It changes nothing about what is stored on your device right now.

Changing your mind

Your answer is kept in your browser, not in a cookie, and it is not sent to the practice. Reopen the dialog whenever you like:

Other things stored on your device

Your answer to the consent dialog is remembered in your browser’s local storage, so it does not reappear on every page. It records the date and whether you allowed analytics. It is not a cookie, is never sent to the practice, and clearing your browser data removes it — after which the dialog asks again.

When you complete a booking, this site keeps the booking’s reference in your browser’s session storage, so that it can show you your booking — straight away, or when Revolut sends you back from paying for a video call. It is not a cookie, it identifies nothing but that one booking, and it is gone when you close the tab. Like the staff cookie, it is strictly necessary for something you asked for, so it needs no consent.

Turning it off

You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings. Doing so makes no difference to booking online, which uses none. You can also phone the practice on +353 85 876 8814.
